Lahore Home Medical Care offers Portable Digital X-Ray at Home services, allowing patients in Lahore and Kasur to get high-quality X-rays without visiting a hospital or clinic. Our team brings a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine to your home, capable of capturing clear images of bones, chest, or other body areas as needed. These images are processed and reviewed by qualified radiologists remotely, just like in a hospital.
This service is especially useful for patients who find it difficult to travel such as those with fractures, the elderly, or bedridden individuals. Instead of enduring the stress and discomfort of transport, you can have the X-ray done in the comfort of your home, with minimal disturbance. Despite being outside a traditional X-ray department, the quality of our portable X-rays is excellent we use advanced digital systems that produce images suitable for diagnosing fractures, pneumonia, joint issues, and more. We follow strict safety protocols (like using lead aprons and keeping bystanders at a safe distance) to ensure the procedure is done safely.
A portable X-ray is essentially a mobile version of the X-ray machines used in hospitals. Our system is a digital X-ray unit, which includes an X-ray generator (the device that produces X-rays) and a digital detector plate (which captures the image). Here’s how we perform an X-ray at home.
Choosing to have an X-ray done at home comes with several key benefits:
If you suspect a fracture or have a serious injury, moving the affected person can be extremely painful and possibly harmful.
For urgent issues, a home X-ray gives rapid answers. If someone fell and might have broken something, a home X-ray can confirm the fracture right away.
Being at home is simply more comfortable for most people. You can be in your own bed, around familiar surroundings.
At home, you have the full attention of the radiographer without the rush that might happen in a busy clinic.
Yes, you do need a doctor's prescription or referral for an X-ray. X-rays involve radiation, so there has to be a medically justified reason to perform one. Typically, a doctor will examine you (or understand your situation) and determine that an X-ray is needed for diagnosis or follow-up. If you contact us directly without a prescription, we have in-house physicians who can evaluate your case (through a teleconsult or by reviewing your history) and provide one if appropriate.
Yes, absolutely we follow all radiation safety protocols to make an at-home X-ray as safe as one in a hospital. The X-ray machine only emits radiation at the moment of exposure (a fraction of a second), and we direct it precisely at the area of interest. We also use lead aprons/shields on the patient to cover other body parts, and we clear others out of the area during the shot. The amount of radiation from a single X-ray is quite low. For instance, a chest X-ray's radiation dose is roughly equivalent to the natural background radiation you'd receive over about 10 days it's generally considered a low dose.
If the X-ray reveals a serious issue, our team acts promptly. For example, if we see a fracture that is very unstable or a bone completely broken, we'll advise that you contact an orthopedic surgeon or go to a hospital for setting it immediately. If it's a chest X-ray that shows something like a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) or a large pneumonia, we'll treat that as urgent. Our radiologist would, in such cases, likely call our clinical team who would then call you (or your doctor if appropriate) to urge immediate next steps, like going to ER or starting treatment.
We provide both. By default, we issue a detailed report written by our radiologist. But we also can share the digital X-ray images with you. Often we send a PDF file that contains the report text and embedded key images. For example, if there's a fracture, we might include the X-ray image with an arrow pointing to the break. If you or your doctor want to see the full high-resolution image, we can email a DICOM file (the standard medical image format) or even a JPEG if that's acceptable. Many doctors are now happy with viewing images on screen rather than having a physical film.
This can vary by insurance provider/policy. Some insurance companies do cover diagnostic tests done at home, especially if done by a licensed provider like our service. Others might not have a specific provision for portable services. In Pakistan, many people pay out-of-pocket for such services, but if you have private insurance or corporate coverage, it's worth asking them.
